Vial Delivery Vial Delivery
To kick off the process, RDS ROBOTx receives prescription orders from your pharmacy management system, which initiates requests for specific vial sizes. The Vial Delivery operation handles all vial-related activity from vial selection to vial labeling to vial transport, and includes the following components:

Vial Hoppers. Bulk storage units that store three vial sizes and automatically supply the vials to the Unscrambler, which simultaneously orients and sorts all size three vials.

Vial Queue. Provides the appropriate size vial for each order and performs various quality checks.

Labeler. Prints bar coded labels for all orders to be robotically filled.

Vial Transport. All labeled vials that pass RDS’s stringent quality controls move to the high speed Vial Transport for delivery to Robotic Dispensing. In the case of an RDS-II, which has two Robotic Dispensing Work Cells, vials are positioned at the appropriate launch point for transport.

Vial Transport uses compressed air to fly vials at up to 30 miles per hour through a pneumatic tube to the Robotic Dispensing.

With this unique design, Vial Transport can be located in a completely different room — another key configuration and space saving-benefit that enables you to optimize your facility’s space.
