Innovation Introduces PharmASSIST ROBOTx,
the Industry’s First Scalable Robotic Dispensing System

JOHNSON CITY, NY - August 26, 2005 - Innovation Associates today announced the official launch of PharmASSIST® ROBOTx™, the first scalable robotic prescription dispensing system for the pharmacy industry. PharmASSIST ROBOTx enables pharmacies to configure a customized robotic dispensing system up to 140 dispensers, and to upgrade their existing PharmASSIST counting technology to the ROBOTx system. Innovation will debut PharmASSIST ROBOTx at the industry’s NACDS Pharmacy & Technology Conference in San Diego, CA from August 28-30.

“Market demand for scalable robotic dispensing is telling us that pharmacies are looking for a better, more affordable alternative to the current “one size fits all” robotic systems,” says Mary Reno, CEO of Innovation. “With PharmASSIST ROBOTx, pharmacies can now match up their prescription volumes and their budgets with just the right amount of robotic dispensing, and then add capacity as they need it.” Adds Reno, “The new ROBOTx system fills a gap in our automation suite; enabling us to now offer pharmacies a completely scalable range of products from workflow software to central fill robotics systems.”

PharmASSIST ROBOTx differentiates itself from existing robotic dispensing systems with its unique scalability and with its capability to incorporate dispensers from a customer’s existing PharmASSIST SmartCabinet or Symphony+ System. As with all PharmASSIST counting technology, PharmASSIST ROBOTx dispensers can count prescription orders simultaneously, enabling throughput of up to 240 prescriptions an hour. The system labels, caps, and presents all filled vials to output queues from which operators can verify each prescription and then continue their prescription filling process. PharmASSIST ROBOTx is also fully integrated with Innovation’s PharmASSIST Symphony® workflow software, enabling pharmacies to create a comprehensive robotic dispensing and workflow management system to address their prescription fulfillment challenges.

Okeechobee Discount Drug of Okeechobee, Florida will upgrade its PharmASSIST Symphony+ System, comprised of two cabinets (100 dispensers), to PharmASSIST ROBOTx with 140 dispensers and Symphony. Owner Steve Nelson, an Innovation client since 1998, says, “Being able to migrate our existing PharmASSIST technology to the new ROBOTx system will be real pleasure. It’s basically a plug-n-play implementation that will be an easy transformation with no incompatibilities with any of our existing pharmacy automation systems.” Nelson continues, “Our goal is to increase both our filling capacity and our cash flow by being able to process more prescriptions in a shorter amount of time.”
