Dave’s Pharmacy Blazes Technology Trail with
Complete Suite of Pharmacy Automation JOHNSON CITY, NY – April 21, 2008– Innovation Associates, makers of PharmASSIST® pharmacy automation solutions, today announced that Dave’s Pharmacy of Marysville, Ohio has successfully automated their prescription fulfillment process with the firm’s PharmASSIST Symphony+® system serving as the control center. Dave’s Pharmacy selected Innovation’s combined workflow and counting technology product to help increase operational efficiency, ensure filling accuracy, and free up pharmacists to focus on patient therapeutics. “Our highly integrated technology suite helps us meet all levels of demand from our customers and has had a tremendous impact on our overall business,” said Dave Burke, R.Ph. and owner, Dave’s Pharmacy. “As the core component of our suite, Symphony+ has added much needed structure and accountability to our workflow. We’re now more efficient, have reduced our wait times significantly, and have gained renewed confidence in our roles and in achieving our timelines.” Burke, who holds a seat on Cardinal Health’s National Retail Advisory Board, said his pharmacy fills on average 400 prescriptions per day and reaches peaks of approximately 525 prescriptions daily. The independent employs the PharmASSIST Symphony+ system as the control center of their Rx fulfillment process, driving the pharmacy’s workflow and providing comprehensive prescription tracking. To automate the counting of the pharmacy’s top movers, their Symphony+ system includes a 50-dispenser automated counting cabinet. To round out Dave’s Pharmacy’s technology suite, Symphony+ is integrated with their QS/1 pharmacy management system, Voice-Tech IVR for refill processing, and Cardinal Inventory Manager (CIM) for managing perpetual inventory. “Dollar for dollar we couldn’t have implemented a better technology application than the Symphony+ workflow. The system’s open architecture has enabled us to integrate so many key automation components,” said Burke. “We’ve benefited in various ways, from the speed and accuracy of our processing to the reduction in customer wait times to our now having time to counsel patients, all of which have helped us become a customer service-friendly business. With this system’s in-depth checks and balances, I don’t have to worry about things anymore when I’m not here.” “Dave’s Pharmacy is a shining example of how technologies working together can help independent pharmacies thrive despite the pressures of today’s business environment,” said Doyle Jensen, executive vice president, Innovation. “We’re extremely proud that our technology has had such an impact on their business.” About Innovation Associates
