Associated Pharmacies, Inc. (API) Partners with Innovation to Offer Pharmacy Automation Technology to Over 800 Pharmacies
Southeastern-based Pharmacy Purchasing Organization Names Innovation as Preferred Technology Vendor

SCOTTSBORO, AL- February 9, 2006 - Associated Pharmacies, Incorporated, (API), a leading pharmacy purchasing organization based in Scottsboro, Alabama with membership throughout the Southeastern U.S., announced today that Innovation Associates has become a Preferred Technology Vendor for pharmacy automation technology. With this partnership, API’s 800 plus members will have access to a variety of financial incentives such as significant purchase discounts and group rebates on Innovation’s PharmASSIST® pharmacy automation products and services.

“We truly look forward to our partnership with Innovation.” says Jon Copeland, R.Ph. and CEO of API. “Many pharmacies need to further automate to increase prescription filling capacity, enhance accuracy and improve customer service. We see appropriate implementation of technology as a way to maintain profitability by offsetting margin declines forced by third-party payers and CMS programs.” Copeland adds, “Innovation’s solutions are scalable with value and offer our pharmacies an excellent opportunity to either enter or expand into the automated technology world with a proven partner. The fact that they can do so with the added benefit of the financial incentives available through the API – Innovation partnership is icing on the cake.”

Innovation’s PharmASSIST product suite is comprised of a complete range of automated prescription dispensing products from workflow management software to counting technology to robotic dispensing. The firm’s new PharmASSIST ROBOTx™ product is the industry’s first scalable robotic dispensing system, enabling pharmacies to configure a customized robotic dispensing system up to 140 dispensers. Pharmacies can invest in PharmASSIST counting-only technology today and seamlessly upgrade to ROBOTx when it’s appropriate, and with the security that much of their original capital investment is protected. With each of the PharmASSIST products, pharmacies can enhance the quality of their prescription filling, improve their workflow, and implement a customized system that meets their prescription volume and physical space requirements.

“With this agreement, API members will now benefit from Innovation’s various financial incentive programs for purchasing our completely scalable range of pharmacy automation products,” says Mary Reno, CEO, Innovation. “We look forward to working closely with API and its sales force to educate their membership on how our solutions not only help them achieve their goals today, but also enable them to easily and cost effectively upgrade in the future.”
