Tim’s Pharmacy Successfully Implements PharmASSIST ROBOTx
With Symphony Workflow and Voice-Tech IVR
Washington State Independent Transforms Prescription Filling With End-to-End Solution
JOHNSON CITY, NY – February 21, 2007 – Innovation Associates, makers of PharmASSIST® pharmacy automation solutions, today announced that Tim’s Pharmacy of Yelm, Washington has successfully implemented their PharmASSIST ROBOTx™ system along with PharmASSIST Symphony® workflow and Voice-Tech IVR to automate the pharmacy’s entire prescription fulfillment and refill process. An Innovation client since 2003, Tim’s Pharmacy migrated to PharmASSIST ROBOTx from PharmASSIST Symphony+ (counting technology and workflow software) to further increase operational efficiency and to enhance customer service.
“My decision to upgrade to ROBOTx was basically economically driven. I lost two pharmacists and instead of hiring new ones, I invested in Innovation’s robotic technology, which will pay for itself in 18 months,” said Tim Larsen, R.Ph. and owner, Tim’s Pharmacy. “With ROBOTx, Symphony, SmartScale, and VoiceTech, it’s been a nice metamorphosis for us; filling prescriptions has never been so good. Our efficiency and throughput have gone way up, we have more time to focus on customer service, and, in the long run, our technology is going to create more business for us.”
Tim’s Pharmacy fills on average 350 prescriptions per day and has peak days of approximately 600 prescriptions. The independent’s technology suite comprises the PharmASSIST ROBOTx system (140 dispensers), PharmASSIST SmartScale (counting scale) to augment manual counting for non-automated drugs, and six flexible workstations to handle various workflow tasks using PharmASSIST Symphony. To automate their refill process, Tim’s uses Voice-Tech IVR in conjunction with the fully integrated Symphony. The PharmASSIST ROBOTx/Symphony system is integrated with Tim’s pharmacy management system, QS/1, ensuring real-time prescription order flow for all Rx fulfillment tasks.
“The Symphony workflow integrated with Voice-Tech has been one of the biggest godsends for our pharmacy,” said Larsen. “I would liken it to going from writing prescriptions into patient profiles by hand to computerization. It has taken the chaos out of our pharmacy and streamlined our entire refill process.”
Tim’s Pharmacy’s migration to PharmASSIST ROBOTx was accomplished in a weekend. Innovation’s Client Services team removed the 100 dispensers from the Symphony+ cabinets and simply plugged them into the ROBOTx, along with adding 40 new dispensers. Due to ROBOTx being completely integrated with PharmASSIST Symphony, the migration required only software configuration adjustments to bring the system live.
