Sauk City Pharmacy Addresses Dispensing Accuracy
and Customer Service
with Innovation’s PharmASSIST ROBOTx
Wisconsin Independent Cites Robotic Dispensing System’s Quality and Speed as Key Decision Factors
JOHNSON CITY, NY – March 7, 2007 – Innovation Associates, makers of PharmASSIST® pharmacy automation solutions, today announced that Sauk City Pharmacy of Sauk City, Wisconsin has successfully implemented their PharmASSIST ROBOTx™ system to automate their prescription dispensing process. Sauk City Pharmacy’s goals in deploying the robotic dispensing system were to increase capacity to safely handle their continual rise in Rx volume, to enhance patient safety through enhanced quality control, and to improve customer service.
“Since we have a small staff, typically myself and one tech, our main focus had been on filling prescriptions and we had limited time to counsel our patients,” said Kevin Blessing, R.Ph. and owner, Sauk City Pharmacy. “With our ROBOTx system, we’re now in complete control of our filling process and have the utmost confidence in our dispensing accuracy. On the customer service side, we’re free to speak with our patients about their medications and we’ve reduced our wait times to just a few minutes.”
To handle their current prescription volume, Sauk City Pharmacy’s PharmASSIST ROBOTx system currently includes 100 dispensers and is scalable up to 140 dispensers. The system is integrated with their pharmacy management system, McKesson Pharmaserve, ensuring real-time prescription order flow for all Rx fulfillment tasks.
“One of the key factors that helped me make my decision was ROBOTx’s scalable configuration. We decided to start with 100 dispensers due to our current volume, and we can easily add dispensing capacity as our volumes grow,” said Blessing. “The system’s speed and well organized output queues have really simplified our process and been the chief reasons for our improved customer service. Our customers are also very impressed with our operation.”
