AmMed HomeCare Pharmacy Deploys Two PharmASSIST ROBOTx Systems
to Handle 200% Prescription Growth
Nashville, TN-based Mail Order Pharmacy Cites PharmASSIST Scalability as Key to Success
JOHNSON CITY, NY – October 18, 2007 – Innovation Associates, makers of PharmASSIST® pharmacy automation solutions, today announced that AmMed HomeCare Pharmacy, a full-service mail order pharmacy based in Nashville, Tennessee, deploys two PharmASSIST ROBOTx® systems to automate their rapidly increasing prescription volumes. In 2007 alone, AmMed HomeCare Pharmacy has experienced a 200% rise in prescription volumes. The pharmacy is an affiliate of AmMed Direct, a provider of diabetes technology and an authorized Medicare provider of diabetes test supplies.

In January, AmMed HomeCare Pharmacy implemented one PharmASSIST ROBOTx system (140 dispensers) and two PharmASSIST SmartCabinet systems (three cabinets overall and 146 dispensers) to handle the filling of approximately 10,000 prescriptions monthly. The ROBOTx system is Innovation’s completely automated robotic dispensing technology, while the SmartCabinet systems are counting-only technology that require operators to retrieve prescriptions from the appropriate dispensers.
Less than a year later, AmMed HomeCare Pharmacy is filling over 31,000 prescriptions monthly. To help them better handle the rapidly increasing workload, the pharmacy migrated their SmartCabinet systems to a second ROBOTx system. All robotic automation is fully integrated with the pharmacy’s pharmacy management system, ePost, ensuring real-time prescription order flow for all Rx fulfillment tasks.
